The Rosendale, Dulwich
Coming in hot at number one is this fab venue in leafy Dulwich. The Rosendale was originally a Victorian coaching inn, and it's very easy on the eyes and full of character both in and out - and out includes a huge outdoor area, giving you the option of an al fresco drinks reception in good weather. There's even a playground to keep the littlest guests occupied!
The Rosendale has two private function rooms upstairs, both filled with natural light and period features. The West Room, pictured above, is long and airy, making it the perfect place for your ceremony, with room for 100 guests seated.
For your reception, there's room for 90, so loads of space! For something a little smaller, The East Room has room for 25 people seated.

The Hare and Hounds, Leyton
The characterful Hare and Hounds in Leyton, east London is a perfect spot for your laidback London pub wedding. The venue dates from the 1860s, and is full of quirky details which will make your wedding photos really unique!
The Lion Room is licenced for civil weddings, and has space for up to 50 guests, perfect for a more intimate do! It gets its name (unsurprisingly) from the ENORMOUS lion's head on the wall, which is certainly a striking backdrop for your ceremony!
The room links directly to the fab outdoor space which is mostly covered by a tipi-style roof, so if you end up with a rainy wedding day then you can still enjoy some fresh air! It's packed with comfy sofas and chairs, like an eclectic outdoor sitting room, so the perfect place for a chilled-out drinks reception after you're married.

The Bedford, Balham
Another pub with seriously funky features and unending character is The Bedford in Balham, South London. This pub is great if you're having a larger wedding, with loads of roomy spaces you can hire for your celebration.
You can tie the knot in the circular ballroom, with a mezzanine level running around the top, giving a great vantage point for photos. The venue holds lots of events here, so it comes with a full lighting setup, meaning you can light the room however you like - even to match your wedding colour scheme!
Upstairs, there are several bars for your drinks reception, as well as a huge room perfect for the wedding breakfast. You also have access to an outdoor area if you fancy some fresh air!
The Bedford is packed with cool spots to take your wedding photos, from a glamorous loo lobby to a huge curved staircase. There isn't really a bad backdrop in the whole place!
If you're looking for somewhere where you and your guests can stay on-site, then this is a great choice. There are 15 luxurious bedrooms upstairs, including ones with freestanding deep-soaking bathtubs - perfect for a relaxing soak the night before the big day - or a romantic one the night of!!

The Duke's Head, Putney
This riverside pub in Putney is a beautiful and well-located place to have your wedding in south west London. There are several spaces here you can hire for your wedding, including the Coxswain Riverside Restaurant, a light and airy space overlooking the River Thames through its wall of windows with space for up to 80 guests.
For something more intimate, you can hire The Wolsey Room on the first floor, which also overlooks the river. And if you fancy a space that opens straight onto a terrace, check out The Rowing Club on the lower ground floor, which has room for 120 people.
All the spaces here have lots of light and character, and the food is also seriously delicious, so a great choice if you're after good pub grub. The location on the riverside is also perfect for wedding photos, with a slope outside where you can literally walk straight down into the water (though you probably wouldn't want to in your wedding outfits...)

The Colonel Fawcett, Camden
This trendy Victorian pub in Camden Town is a great backdrop for your big day, with lots of character and enough space for up to 100 guests. A stone's throw from Camden Road station, it's really well-located, both for your guests and for places to take your wedding photos.
If you're a pizza fan, this venue might be the one for you, as they serve delicious pizzas from 081 Pizzeria - including gluten-free options (which I always appreciate!). Their more traditional pub food is also really tasty.
The venue boasts cool features such as a metal spiral staircase (perfect photo op), and two gardens so you're spoilt for choice with outdoor space.

The Phene, Chelsea
I love this beautiful pub in Chelsea, not too far from where I live. The food is AMAZING, and it's got several light and airy spaces you can hire for your wedding. The venue is licensed for wedding ceremonies, but is also a perfect spot for your intimate reception after a wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
There are no less than seven spaces available to hire, including a large leafy garden, perfect for a summer drinks reception! You can also hire the whole venue, giving you room for up to 110 guests, and lots of different areas for all the parts of your wedding celebrations.
The local area has so many great spots for wedding photos that you'll be spoilt for choice, and you're only a few minutes walk from the River Thames for a perfect romantic backdrop.

The Swan at Shakespeare's Globe, South Bank
This riverside pub attached to the famous Globe Theatre is a perfect place for your wedding reception if you want somewhere historical, central, and with countless photo ops nearby. Situated on the South Bank right next to Millenium Bridge, with amazing views of St Paul's Cathedral, and only a few minutes' walk from London Bridge station, it doesn't get much better location-wise than this.
The Balcony Room, true to its name, boasts a balcony with awesome views over the Thames, and has space for up to 70 guests for a sit-down meal. Decorated in green and full of natural light and fresh air, it's a perfect place to celebrate your wedding. The room is even licenced if you wanted to have your ceremony there too!
The food here is very tasty and inspired by seasonal British produce - and there's also a great selection of drinks. Plus if you're flagging a bit and need a caffeine hit, there's a Starbucks next door! (You'll probably find me in there...)

The Dickens Inn, St Katharine Docks
St Katharine Docks has always been one of my favourite areas of London, and it's also home to a fab wedding venue - The Dickens Inn. This historic galleried pub dates from the 18th century, and is brimming with character. There are spaces to hire across three floors, including The Dickens Suite, with space for up to 200 people, and views out onto the docks.
The Dickens Inn is licenced for weddings, and all the natural light flooding into The Dickens Suite makes it the perfect place to hold your ceremony, in front of the big windows (and the light makes your photographer's job SO much easier). Downstairs, you can hire The Copperfield Bar for your drinks reception, with easy access outside.
There are so many good spots nearby to take your wedding photos; the docks themselves, down by the river, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the cobbled streets of Wapping...I could go on. You've got some truly iconic London landmarks on your doorstep to make the most of!
